<p><strong>Tests on rubber or rubber-metal components</strong> may require mixed and alternating stresses on different axes: for example, the execution of a torsion angle with the simultaneous imposition of a load on another axis, followed by a series of variable radial loads. The same part may have to be mounted inclined with respect to a stress axis for cardan type tests.</p>



<p>For this type of <strong>fatigue tests</strong> we create benches with an adjustable support for positioning the part to be tested and two linear actuators, or with a linear actuator and a torsional actuator in order to allow a biaxial testing.</p>



<p>Load and position transducers of the actuators allow to detect stresses and create diagrams with the measurements obtained.</p>

<p>CCM developed several servo-hydraulic systems for accurate and reliable <strong>FATIGUE TESTS</strong>, the actuators of our production are hydrostatic support, this special construction minimizes friction and allows to perform tests of high frequency up to 600 Hz. These performances make it possible that our machines are used in high standards laboratories to perform testing of materials and components used in advanced applications.</p>



<p>A <strong>fatigue test</strong>, to ensure long life of the materials in question requires high frequency equipment. A fatigue test of 109 cycles requires more than 7 months with a traditional test machine of 50 Hz. The same fatigue test takes only 19 days with a fatigue test system high-frequency 600Hz.</p>



<p>Our machines maintain a high-fidelity waveform while running at a high frequency. Depending on the requirements, we can provide systems with static load from 5 to1000 kN and <strong>standard waveforms (sine, ramp, square) or programmable block diagram</strong>.</p>



<p>The material test machines are a very versatile product that allows the characterization or the fatigue test in traction, compression or traction-compression of the parts that you want to test.</p>



<p>The system can be supplied with <strong>environmental chambers</strong> and used to determine the effects of temperature during the fatigue test.</p>

<p><strong>SHOCK ABSORBER TESTING MACHINES</strong> can be divided into two main groups:</p>



<p><strong>Electromechanical type</strong> driven by a direct current motor or a brushless motor and with crank connecting rod mechanism, with adjustable stroke, which transforms the rotary motion into a sinusoidal one. By means of the potentiometer, the speed transducer and load cells, data for the characterization of the shock absorber are detected.</p>



<p><strong>Hydraulic type</strong> with <strong>servo-controlled actuator suitable for high-speed levels (max 3 m/sec)</strong>, which detects displacement, speed and load for the characterization of the shock absorber and creates files in Windows environment with diagrams of force-displacement, force-speed, sweep, force-temperature (applying a sensor in the shock absorber). Which can be used for fatigue tests with particular waveforms programmable in block diagrams.</p>



<p>We can build <strong>multi-station machines and machines with tilting mechanism</strong> to simulate the working position of the shock absorber.</p>

<p><strong>COIL SPRING TESTING MACHINES </strong>with nominal load from 5 to 500 KN are characterized by a vertical servo-controlled actuator which charges the spring and detects the deflection and the force exerted by means of a potentiometer and load cells.</p>



<p>To detect the <strong>chasse</strong> is provided a floating table which is equipped with two potentiometers allowing to detect the motion of the spring base in relation to its axis during compression. These machines can be also equipped with a lateral actuator that, by means of the floating table, detects the spring <strong>lateral flexibility</strong>.</p>



<p>Through data acquired is possible to perform files in Windows environment with diagrams characterizing the spring.</p>

<p><strong>LEAF-SPRING TESTING MACHINES</strong> with nominal load up to 500 kN are characterized by a vertical servo-controlled actuator which presses the leaf and allows the measurements of the free height, camber, deflection by means of a potentiometer and the force exerted by load cells.</p>



<p>The trolleys where the leaf spring is placed are set for detecting the chord and the semi chords and they can be equipped with a transducer to detect the spring eye parallelism. It is possible to install a floating plan on the actuator to detect the planarity of the first leaf of the laminated spring. Inside the base of the machine there are automatic supports allowing the testing of the <strong>double layer laminated springs</strong> <strong>and springs with triple flexibility.</strong></p>



<p>For leaf springs with exceeding height than the standard is possible to perform a <strong>Scrag procedure with self-learning </strong>to re-enter within the required parameters, which reduces the execution time.</p>



<p>We can supply machinery with <strong>robotized loading</strong> for production lines.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bench for Fatigue Torsion Tests</h3>



<p>Our machines to perform <strong>TORSION TESTS</strong> are characterized by a <strong>rotating actuator (vane drive) servo controlled</strong> that applies a dynamic torsion load to testing component and by means of a torque meter and rotary potentiometer allows the detection thanks to the counter-reaction control of the force and the angular displacement.</p>



<p>These actuators are specifically designed for the test application. All components of the actuator are dimensioned to have a long life. All rotating parts are designed to be symmetrical to the axial center to allow an internal balance of the actuator itself. These balances allow use even at high speed and the use for fatigue tests.</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Bench for Static Torsion Tests</h3>



<p>For low-speed tests, we produce<strong> torsion machines </strong>driven by a<strong> stepper motor with a gear reducer</strong>. These machines are suitable for tests of batches production of rubber-metal components, the component to be tested is blocked by sealing jaws actuated by pneumatic pistons and then subjected to torsion with the torsional torque detection over the whole range of angular displacement programmed, it&#8217;s possible also set the speed of torsion. The parts to be discarded are marked and there is also a warning light and an acoustic message.</p>

<p>The test bench of <strong>TRANSMISSION PARTS</strong> consists of two DC motors, one for driving and the other for braking the testing element. On the motors shafts is placed instrumentation designed to detect the values of torque and speed at the entrance and the exit of the element tested, thus being able to obtain the efficiency.</p>



<p>The test bench was done in order to be used in <strong>three different modes</strong>:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li><strong>closed circuit</strong> (motor-brake) reducer &#8211; joints, etc.</li><li><strong>as a motor</strong> for pumps, brakes, etc..</li><li><strong>as brake</strong> for all types of engines, etc.</li></ul>



<p>Used in closed circuit our test bench works with power circulation: the energy is recovered from braking element, so as to require outside only the power dissipated in friction and losses of various kinds.</p>

<p>The test bench for rotary and transmission parts of the new Laboratories Center for Experimental Teaching of the Faculty of Engineering (Bovisa) was designed to be able to perform tests on transmission parts of various types (from joints to reducers, belts, chains, complete transmission) within the limits of the maximum installed capacity.</p>



<p>The main points of the project were therefore high flexibility of use, low power consumption (for long-term tests), the drive systems of the bench and measurement of mechanical quantities, data acquisition systems and tests management through PC are the latest generation technology</p>

<p>Machines to perform <strong>tests on components of rubber or rubber-metal</strong> were specifically designed to detect and compare the static and dynamic characteristics (stiffness and damping) of the component under test.</p>



<p>When the component is put in real use conditions, applying a static preload or imposing a deflection, two types of tests are performed in sequence:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>from the execution of a test at low speed (static test), it detects the static diagram and from this we obtain the value of the static rigidity of the component conditions of use.</li><li>Through dynamic tests are detected, maintaining a constant amplitude of the sinusoidal excitation by varying the frequency, the dynamic stiffness and the phase shift angle between displacement and load, which identifies the damping value of the testing component.</li></ul>



<p>The detections are made using appropriate position transducers, of acceleration and load.</p>



<p>The operation frequency fields of this type of machines are essentially two:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list"><li>4 &#8211; 25/40 Hz with amplitudes of excitation ± 0.05 / 2.5 mm and</li><li>25-500 Hz with amplitudes of excitation ± 0.025 /0.2 mm.</li></ul>



<p>For special requirements, such as checking a motor support in <strong>resonance</strong> conditions, can be installed one inertial mass with variable weights which is applied a positive displacement transducer to allow detection of the excitation and the response of the resonant system consisting the inertial mass and the component under test. Other static machines for <strong>fatigue tests for vibration-damping</strong> can be made with two linear actuators or a linear actuator, and a torsional actuator so as to permit the biaxial testing (e.g. application of radial, axial or torsional load on a bushing).</p>

<p>INSTALLATION OF A VIBRATING TABLE IN GEOTECHNICAL CENTRIFUGE</p>



<p>In 2010, CCM has installed a vibrating table, with a hydraulic sustentation, in a geotechnical centrifuge because it could be used to perform seismic testing.</p>



<p>This machine allows to simulate, on physical reduced scale models (up to 1:100), the events of an earthquake and the effects they produce.</p>



<p>It is possible to reproduce a structure in a miniature, such as a building, or a condition, can be also an embankment, and in this structure, inside the centrifuge, can be imposed an earthquake.</p>



<p>In Europe there are only 2 other seismic centrifuges, in Nantes (F) and in Cambridge (UK) (source: Italian local television &#8220;Telelombardia,&#8221; news of 16th April 2010).</p>
